I have the same Strathmore 400 series drawing paper you are using but in the medium surface. Am sure it will be fine but how would the experience vary from the smooth paper you are using? Just curious.

@Pamela The experience is very subjective, I think you will enjoy the medium tooth because it is what you chose when buying and probably the surface you are more used to. You will get a little bit more texture in your shading but not a lot, it will hardly be noticeable by anyone else other than you when you are drawing. The textures won't be so different from the smooth surface to onlookers. I will also say that I have since tried the medium textures and I have liked it more if not the same depending on what pencil!
